Construction Update: Hoist Comes Down

According to its Facebook page, Fly Condominiums has undergone various developments, approaching completion. The project, which is set for completion this year, is finally looking close to complete.

The most significant development is the removal of the hoist. The hoist coming down signifies a shift in the focus from the exterior to the interior of the building. With the hoist and its platform down, the construction crew is ready to work on finishing up the two-storey lobby.

Aside from this, you can see that some of the interior furnishings are being put in such as kitchen cabinets, bathroom tiles, flooring, and trim in each of the 465 units. Electricity also looks like it is being put in with connecting cords in some of the photos. All these highlight the progress towards completing construction.

Expect to see more updates soon on Fly’s interior.

Construction Update: Fly Condos are almost complete!

Empire Communities’ Fly Condos is extremely close to completion. The 24-storey building, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects is comprised of glass, stone and pre-cast. It features great amenities, such as: a guest suite, gym, movie room, party room, roof deck, and sauna.

Fred’s Not Here

For seafood lovers, Fred’s serves a famous baked “Lobster and Crab Soup,” “Lobster Thermidor,” and a selection of daily fresh fish specials. With a menu like this, you’re sure to find a meal that is to your liking.

As Fred’s receives a variety of clientele ranging in type from camera-carrying tourists to the suits that inhabit the nearby Financial District, it is recommend that you reserve a spot at this magnificent eatery a bit in advance.

Progress continues at FLY condos

Construction continues on Empire Communities’ FLY Condos. Located on Front Street, between Spadina and Blue Jays Way, FLY will provide its residents with the best Toronto’s downtown has to offer in terms of convenience, entertainment, and stylish living.

The building, designed by Graziani & Corazza Architects Inc., is 24-storeys high with glass balconies in a zigzag pattern on its western façade. FLY’s interiors reflect a desire for an artful living experience and an acute attention to design. The interiors and amenities are designed by Munge Leung Design Associates and they include a two-storey high lobby with columns in green cut-glass and sculptural seating. The space is also decorated with white and gold metal origami-like birds.

FLY’s common area amenities boast a rooftop lounge with chef’s kitchen with appliances, an outdoor terrace for entertaining complete with barbecues, stylish guest suites, and a 24-hour concierge. Construction Update: progress continues at Fly condos

Right in the centre of the downtown core, Front Street West is dense with busy renovations and construction. In the past few years, new condos have been popping up in record time. One of four different projects under construction on the strip, Fly Condos by Empire Communities recently began work on its exterior glass cladding. By late summer, the building had already reached its storey limit and could move forward with other aspects of its production. Unlike its colossal neighbourhood counterparts, namely Festival Tower and Pinnacle on Adelaide, Fly condominiums will only be 24 storeys high. Compared to some of its high-rise neighbours (some of which will exceed 40 storeys high), Fly is a smaller more modest building.

In just a year, the Fly project has sped through the bare-bone construction and can now focus on interior design and exterior finishings. Coming from essentially nothing in August 2011, it will eventually become a stunning and modern condo. The last year of construction marks an impressive feat.

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” – everyone has heard that line before. Well, luckily for Fly residents, there’s a Cora’s located just across the road from their future home at 277 Wellington St. W to make sure you eat the most important meal of the day.

Cora’s first opened in 1987 in Montreal, and has since expanded to various cities and become a household name. Enjoy omelets, crepes, waffles, French toast and more!

You could try the Spinach and Cheddar Omelette, served with roasted potatoes and toast, the Raspberry 4 Lucie, a crepe filled with raspberries and cream cheese with raspberry coulis, honey and English cream or the Seventh of July, crepes and French toast covered with a mountain of fresh fruit.

Milagro Cantina is located at 5 Mercer Street, just steps from Fly condos. As far as great Mexican eateries, this classic cantina is as good as it gets. Opened by brothers Andres and Arturo Anhalt, there is now a second location onYonge Street, north of Lawrence.

The cuisine focuses on traditional Mexican food. The menu is very large – there’s sure to be something on there for everyone. Reviews consistently praise the great Mexican food! Some of their mains include:

Barbacoa ($19.95) – roasted lamb in banana leaf.

Carnitas Panchos ($18.95) – Pulled pork confit with cilantro & onion.

Construction on Union Station along Front Street near to Fly Condos

There’s a lot going on around Fly Condos. Currently, work is underway on Front Street as part of a major expansion and revitalization of Union Station. In this image, we see the construction occurring along Front Street in the foreground, as well as the progressing construction at the L Tower in the background.
